Another delay has pushed the disciplinary hearing for suspended Osoyoos RCMP Const. Amit Goyal forward for the fifth time.
Goyal, who has been suspended with pay for about three years, is facing three allegations under Section 39 of the 1988 RCMP Regulations for disgraceful or disorderly acts or conduct that could bring discredit to the force, and two allegations under Section 45 (b) stating that members not make false, misleading or inaccurate statements to a superior officer pertaining to an investigation.

The hearing has been adjourned to Nov. 14 in Richmond at the Four Points by Sheraton Vancouver Airport.
The Vancouver Sun reported that Goyal’s lawyer John Benkendorf told the disciplinary panel that new evidence in the case could make the hearing an “embarrassment for the RCMP if it were to proceed.”
Goyal is also facing a civil lawsuit from former Osoyoos resident Steve Condon who claims he was framed for the theft and burning of two vehicles from the officer’s home in 2012. Condon’s lawyer Paul Evans has previously told the Western News his client is awaiting the results of the disciplinary hearing prior to moving forward with the lawsuit.
