The cause of a fire at a Vernon townhouse complex may never be known.
Authorities have listed the Sept. 13 blaze at Kikanee Estates on Heritage Drive as undetermined.
“There’s no physical evidence to determine what we thought it was,” said Lawrie Skolrood, Vernon deputy fire chief, adding the damage was extensive.
“We thought there may have been a fire in the attic but there’s nothing left there. It could have been electrical.”
There’s nothing to show the fire was suspicious, but because that can’t be completely ruled out, the RCMP continue to investigate.
“They’re talking to people,” said Skolrood.
“They still want to follow up on all of the evidence.”
Five units sustained damage at the complex, which is owned by the Vernon Native Housing Society.
