Flood projects funded

Two North Okanagan communities will benefit from greater flood protection

Two North Okanagan communities will benefit from  greater flood protection thanks to a joint investment by the federal and provincial governments.

Enderby will receive $666,666 for a $1 million lift station upgrade on Regent Avenue while there is $1.4 million towards a $2.1 million flood protection program in Vernon’s Okanagan Landing area.

“By working as partners, we are preventing the heartache, disruption  and significant costs that come from flooding damages to homes,  businesses and communities,” said Suzanne Anton, B.C.’s attorney general.

“These projects provide safety for the public and help protect the businesses and industries that provide jobs for British Columbians.”

Kerry-Lynne Findlay, federal national revenue minister, says there is support for communities.

“We know that by protecting our communities, we are delivering on our commitment to provide greater safety for residents, as well as significant economic benefits for B.C.”
