Flood protection moves ahead in Okanagan Landing

City of Vernon initiates work this week at the Marshall Field location

Vernon has moved forward with the next phase of flood protection works in Marshall Field.

Starting this week, the project includes restoration and landscaping of works completed in late 2014, as well as the continuation of the channel adjacent to Okanagan Landing Road that was constructed in 2012.

“The final phase of works on the Marshall Field site is proposed to start later this summer and continue through fall,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, communications co-ordinator.

“Work proposed for the final phase includes connections to Vernon Creek, work in other riparian areas where environmental permits are required, and final restoration of the site.”

Pedestrian detours and traffic control will be in effect during construction.
