The concept of a new wilderness park in Vernon is moving ahead.
City council wants to meet with the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee, the Foothills Community Association and property owners to discuss a more detailed location for a proposed park at the top of the Foothills neighbourhood.
“It has some substantial characteristics like natural areas,” said Coun. Juliette Cunningham.
However, Coun. Bob Spiers is concerned that the current process commits the public to purchasing the private land, which includes old growth forest.
“Are we putting ourselves in a box?” he said.
The Foothills Community Association has been lobbying to have the land designated park.
