Former Laker killed in plane crash

Corey Carlson helped the Vernon Lakers to their first Centennial Cup (now Royal Bank Cup) appearance...

Former Vernon Lakers centre Corey Carlson, his wife and two young daughters were killed in a plane crash in Alaska on the weekend.

Carlson, 41, played one year for the Lakers, 1988-89, helping the team win its second straight BCHL championship, and to its first-ever appearance at the Centennial Cup (now Royal Bank Cup) Canadian championship. Carlson, a native of Alaska, was sixth in Interior Conference scoring during the season.
