Foundation handling trail funds

The Community Foundation of the North Okanagan can be contacted for rail trail donations

A local organization is rallying behind the Okanagan Rail Trail.

The Community Foundation of the North Okanagan will handle donations made to the Okanagan Rail Trail fundraising campaign.

“Enthusiasm for the project is high, with individuals, community leaders, businesses, and service groups all looking forward to making the dream of a multi community trail a reality,” said Leanne Hammond, with CFNO.

“While it appears that the project will likely be eligible for some additional government funding, we expect most of the required funding to be raised locally.”

The goal is to raise $7.86 million for a 47.9-kilometre trail from Coldstream to Kelowna.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the community foundation to provide donors with a trusted way to provide their financial support,” said Brad Clements, with the Okanagan Rail Trail Initiative.

“The foundation will steward the funds and provide them as needed for the development of the trail as it progresses”

Through the Community Foundation of the North Okanagan, donors have the option of making gifts online, mailing cheques to the foundation office or meeting with foundation staff to discuss larger gift options.
