Froats leads byelection poll in Armstrong

The businessman received a total of 237 ballots Saturday

The City of Armstrong has a full council again.

Gary Froats led the pack over three other candidates during Saturday’s byelection.

Froats received 237 votes compared to 216 for Adrien Lemaire, 82 for Gill Melin and 58 for Helen Jackson.

Froats moved to Armstrong nearly 40 years ago and he has owned several businesses.

He spent 31 years as an Armstrong-Spallumcheen firefighter, and is a life member of the Armstrong Kin Club.

The byelection became necessary after the death of longtime councillor Ron “Sully” O’Sullivan in May.
