After a successful winter season, SilverStar Mountain Resort is ready for summer fun on the mountain.

The Vernon resort has released its summer events schedule, which kicks off on Friday, June 23 with the SilverStar bike park opening weekend celebrations.

SilverStar is home to one of North America’s largest lift-accessed bike parks, with a network of over 70 kilometres of downhill, cross-country and enduro trails, built by riders for riders. On Saturday, June 24, there will be live music from local musicians including Tragically Hip tribute band The Hip Replacements. The patios will be bustling and the Polson Park Artisan Market will feature more than 20 local vendors.

Saturday will also feature the Slay the Dragon Trail Running Race, hosted by Bush Babes and Bros. Runners can choose from three distances ranging from easy-going to epic (13 km, 25 km and 50 km).

Live music continues on Sunday, June 25, with a free midday concert by Daniel James McFadyen. June 25 is also the day for Hike for Hospice, brought to guests via a partnership between the North Okanagan Hospice Society and SilverStar. Hikers, bikers and strollers of all ages and abilities can collect pledges and come out to the event to raise funds and awareness.

From July 8-9, SilverStar will host the first stop of the 2023 Canada Cup Series mountain bike race, which is running alongside the B.C. Cup and B.C. Downhill Mountain Bike Provincial Championships. The races are designed to provide competitive opportunities to the next generation of mountain bikers transitioning from provincial races to international competitions.

A popular annual mountain biking race — the Juliana Bombshell Enduro Women’s Mountain Bike Race — will take place July 15.

From Aug. 4-6, SilverStar hosts the second stop of the Crankworx Summer Series Canada, bringing some of the world’s best riders to the bike park for three days of racing. Scheduled just a week after Crankworx Whistler and with over $30,000 in cash prizes and giveaways, many top world tour pros are expected to compete. All events at this family-friendly weekend are free for spectators (lift access not included) and SilverStar’s village will “crank it up” with gear demos, sampling and a vendor expo as well as live music, games, outdoor bars and barbecues.

SilverStar’s annual Wine Festival returns Aug. 10-13, bringing together some of the region’s most renowned winemakers. The festival is devoted exclusively to B.C. wineries. Wine seminars, wine dinners and the signature walk-around tasting event are on tap Saturday, Aug. 12. The weekend will also feature live music and a Polson Park Artisan Market pop-up featuring local vendors.

Finally, on Sept. 9, after a hugely successful inaugural event last year, guests can kick off Oktoberfest season with SilverStar’s Craft Beer and Cider Fest. Guests can enjoy craft beer and local ciders with tastings poured in the mountain village.

There’s also plenty of good eats on the mountain throughout the summer months.

“Silver Star has a lively patio scene in the summer and boasts charming cafes, restaurants, and pubs featuring the freshest Okanagan flavours and locally crafted beverages. With not a chain restaurant to be found, the long-time locals who own these eateries are always happy to share the history and love of their home,” SilverStar said.
