An online fundraiser has been started for Peachland roommates and friends who lost their home in a fire.
The GoFundMe has raised more than $1,400 in just two days to help Alexa and Jay after their home was engulfed in flames on May 18.
The fundraiser reads, “Alexa and Jay are not just roommates; they’re also close friends who have always been there for each other through thick and thin. Now, they face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch, finding a new place to call home, replacing essential belongings, and coping with the emotional aftermath of this traumatic event.”
The pair had several animals and one cat remains missing at this time.
The money collected will support Alexa and Jay with immediate necessities like temporary housing, clothing, and pet support.
The fundraiser is set at $10,000.
A second GoFundMe has been started for a couple that also lived in the home, however, their names are not mentioned on the page.
Samantha Blair is asking for $5,000 to support her stepson and his girlfriend. More than $700 has been raised in less than 24 hours.
