Two organizations will be able to promote culture in the North Okanagan as a result of recent funding.

The federal government is providing grants to the North Okanagan Music Festival Society and the Interior Provincial Exhibition.

“Our government believes that investing in local events is critical to the economic health of communities across B.C.,” said Colin Mayes, Okanagan-Shuswap MP.

The North Okanagan Music Festival Society has received $23,500 for the Rarearth Jazz and BluesFest which runs from Aug. 5 to 7 in Vernon.

“The festival is an important attraction for residents and visitors,” said Mayes.

The IPE will receive $66,300 for the 112th edition of the Armstrong fair which will take place from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4.

“Top-notch community events such as the IPE brings people closer together and contributes to making our community stronger,” said Mayes.
