There were some hot moments for a Vernon garbage truck Monday.
Shortly before 11:15 a.m., the driver of the truck, or a passerby, noticed that his load of recycled cardboard was on fire.
“The driver smartly pulled over to an open area, the parking lot at Seaton Secondary School, and dropped the load out,” said Vernon Fire Rescue Services deputy fire chief Jack Blair.
Fire crews arrived quickly and put out the fire.
Other than a large mess to clean up, there was no loss or fire damage to the truck.
Blair said the cause of the fire is unknown.
