Garden waste drop-off begins

The fall free yard and garden waste drop-off runs from Oct. 15 to Nov. 30 at North Okanagan landfills

The fall free yard and garden waste drop-off runs from Oct. 15 to Nov. 30 at all North Okanagan landfills and transfer stations.

Trimmings, prunings, leaves, grass, mulch, and other organic material less than 20 centimetres in diameter originating from yard and garden maintenance will be accepted for free at the Greater Vernon, Armstrong/Spallumcheen, and Lumby landfills and the Kingfisher and Cherryville transfer stations during this time.

“This program is for yard and garden waste self-hauled by residents or from residential municipal collection programs only,” said Dale Danallanko, Regional District of North Okanagan  recycling and facilities manager.

“Please ensure your load is adequately secured with a tarp or cargo net, follow the signs and directions from facility staff, and be sure to empty all bags and boxes containing yard and garden waste.”

Operating hours for the facilities can be found at www.rdno.ca.
