Enderby and District Financial and Valley First community endowments provide assistance to groups

Several community organizations are getting a financial boost.

The First West Foundation, through the Enderby and District Financial and Valley First community endowments, has provided grants to programs or initiatives that contribute to building resilient and resourceful communities.

“The non-profit organizations we’ll support this year all have incredible vision, and are applying innovative programs to build-up the capabilities of individuals, which has a huge and lasting impact on our communities,” said Susan Byrom, First West Foundation executive director.

The organizations supported by the Enderby and District Financial Community Endowment this year include:

· Enderby and District Community Resource Centre — $13,943

· A.L. Fortune Secondary School — $3,125

· Enderby Preschool Society — $3,200

· Kingfisher Interpretive Centre Society — $5,500

The organizations supported by the Valley First Community Endowment this year include:

· Kindale Developmental Association — $10,000

· Vernon Women’s Transition House Society — $1,275

· Whitevalley Community Resource Centre — $5,610

· Mental Illness Family Support Centre Society — $7,500

“This grant will assist Farm Friends in providing the seeds and tools, as well as the staff and supplies we require to run our programming at the farm,” said Tara Day, manager with the Mental Illness Family Support Centre Society.
