The Green Party will have a presence in Vernon-Monashee after all.
Rebecca Helps, executive director of the party’s B.C. wing, will run in the constituency May 14 after a local candidate could not be found.
“Historically, it’s a good riding for the party. We wanted to give people an opportunity to vote,” said Helps, who lives in Port Moody.
Helps says she is prepared to represent Vernon-Monashee if elected.
“I would move up there and it would be my community. I would want to hear from constituents.”
The other candidates are Conservative Scott Anderson, Liberal Eric Foster, independent Korry Zepik and New Democrat Mark Olsen.
