There are a lot of smiles in Lumby.
A groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday indicated that a children’s spray park and adult fitness equipment are moving ahead at Oval Park.
“This was truly a community effort,” said Rick Fairbairn, White Valley Parks and Recreation chairperson.
The total budget is $435,322 and that’s come from the provincial government, the Regional District of North Okanagan, the Lumby Lions Club and the Teddy’s Devils and Martin’s Angels ball teams.
“This is a great story,” said Bill Bennett, B.C.’s community development minister, of the community co-operation.
It’s expected work will begin soon and the facilities will be ready for use next spring.
