Vernon's Upper Room Mission is seeking community support.

Growing demand is placing pressure on a Vernon agency and support is needed.

The number of people walking through the door at the Upper Room Mission is up 12 per cent so far this year, and upwards of 350 meals are served daily.

That is creating significant strain for the non-profit.

“We are continuing to look for community support,” said Lisa Anderson, director of resource development.

There are a number of ways residents can help the URM provide services to those in need.

“Financial donations are great but we are also looking for donations of tinned tomatoes, eggs, milk and cooking oil,” said Anderson.

“We are also looking for fresh produce from people’s gardens.”

Monetary donations can be made at www.upperroommission.ca or drop by 3403 27th Ave.
