Downtown Vernon is losing a strong advocate.

Earl Hansen is retiring as executive director of the Downtown Vernon Association Sept. 14.

“Downtown Vernon is a gem and I feel proud to have been a member of the polishing team finding new ways to make it shine,” said Hansen who has held the position since 2006.

Ruth Hoyte, DVA president, says Hansen has been an extremely valuable resource to the board.

“Earl has been the dedicated leader of our staff team and has made noteworthy contributions in several key areas of DVA activity including downtown security, mural development and special events,” she said.

“Earl will definitely be missed but now we must look ahead to finding a capable replacement that can help take us to the next level.”

A hiring committee has been formed to seek a new executive director.
