Celebrities from a popular Canadian TV show will be in Vernon cruising for a great cause Wednesday.

A select group of celebrities from the show Heartland and motorcycle enthusiasts will embark Monday on a six-day motorcycle marathon from Surrey and make its way throughout southwestern B.C., including a stop in Vernon Wednesday at Bannister Honda at 2 p.m.

Inspired by a love for people, motorcycles and a desire to give back, Cruise with a Cause was co-founded in 2013 by Heartland star Graham Wardle and Vancouver actor and music producer Don McLeod. The organization was created to raise awareness and funding for important causes.

This year’s charity of choice is Sophie’s Place, a unique and progressive child-advocacy centre in Surrey where children have a voice. It is named after their patron, Sophie Tweed-Simmons.

Sophie’s Place provides specialized services to physically, mentally and sexually abused children in a child-friendly setting.

Select Heartland stars will be available at Bannister Honda, signing photos for a $10 donation to Sophie’s Place. Heartland fans can mix and mingle with the celebs, take their own photos and enjoy non-stop musical entertainment by Vancouver band One Bullet Down.
