Highway accident impacts traffic

Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the incident

A serious crash snarled highway traffic in Lake Country Wednesday.

On Wednesday at 2:53 p.m., the police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 about 100 metres south of the intersection with Beaver Lake Road.

“A red Subaru Legacy had apparently rear-ended a fifth-wheel trailer at a high rate of speed,” said Const. Kris Clark, with the RCMP.

“Police observed signs of impairment on the driver of the Subaru who later provided samples that were four times the legal limit. Both drivers were taken to hospital but, incredibly, no one was seriously injured despite the severity of the crash.”

The 45-year-old Prince George man was issued an indefinite driving prohibition and faces potential impaired driving charges.

He was released on an appearance notice for court in November.
