It was a busy night for the Kelowna Fire Department.
Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, fire crews received calls about a wildfire in the 2800 block of Balldock Road in South Kelowna.
When crews arrived on scene, they discovered a 70 foot by 30 foot wildfire. While waiting for crews, the home owner and a neighbour battled the blaze with garden hoses, stopping the fire from spreading to a large barn on the property.
Fire crews quickly put out the blaze.
The fire is not suspicious in nature and fire crews are continuing to investigate a cause.
A campfire ban across the Okanagan put on by BC Wildfire Service goes into effect Thursday, June 8 at 12 p.m. and until Oct. 13, or until the ban is rescinded.
