It’s a static situation at the Spallumcheen wildfire.
“The Township is happy to report there are no changes and the fire is still considered under control with crews working on managing any hot spots,” said Cindy Webb, Township of Spallumcheen corporate officer, in a Thursday press release.

Crews have gained a firm control of the wildfire that was sparked in Spallumcheen Friday, July 7.
Armstrong-Spallumcheen Fire Department and BC Wildfire Service crews remain on scene of the Horseshoe Lake wildfire.
“We are happy to report there are no changes and the fire is still considered under control with crews working on managing any hot spots,” said Cindy Webb, Township of Spallumcheen corporate officer.
The blaze, sparked by lightning, is an estimated 4.2 hectares and caused evacuation orders and alerts Friday, which were rescinded over the weekend.
“As you know the terrain has been a challenge throughout firefighting efforts and the supports the Township has received by BC Wildfire and surrounding departments has been huge in our ability to get the fire to a contained status. Crews on site have been truly exceptional working long hours in difficult terrain and undertaking extreme physical labour in the heat.”
Trails on Mount Rose Swanson also reopened to the public Sunday, but the Township asks that those using the trails remain diligent.
Conditions are very dry and hot and everyone is reminded to use caution and if you see any fire activity call it in to BC Wildfire 1-800-663-5555 or (*5555 from a cell phone).
