Identification leads to suspect

Suspect got away with bottle of booze, but left behind wallet

An individual who ran away with a bottle of booze from a Vernon liquor store Sept. 9 forgot an important piece of ID.

A male inside Gerry O’s Liquor Store had been acting suspicious and was asked to leave because he appeared to be under the influence.

“As the man started to walk out the clerk noticed that he had a bottle in his right pant leg, the clerk told the man, ‘Stop!’ but he ran out of the store,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

“In his haste to get away he dropped his wallet in the store.”

The clerk checked the ID inside the wallet and was able to positively identify the suspect, whom police are in the process of locating.
