Incumbent seeking fourth term

Rene Talbot has some unfinished business.

Rene Talbot has some unfinished business.

Talbot will seek a fourth term as director for the Falkland/Salmon Valley/Deep Creek/Ranchero area of the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District.

“There are some projects I want to see completed like the official community plan in Ranchero and Deep Creek,” he said.

“We are also working on a farmers’ advisory panel. I want farmers to be able to make comments when Agricultural Land Reserve applications come forward.”

If re-elected, Talbot believes there are a number of issues CSRD needs to move ahead on.

Among them are a new official community plan for Falkland and a study on possibly linking Falkland to Vernon via transit.

Talbot, who is retired from the sheet metal business, was first elected as electoral area director in 2002.

“I enjoy working with people and people are concerned about the area they live in,” he said, adding that he considers the role of director to be full-time.

“There are so many meetings with various agencies and groups.”

Nominations for the Nov. 19 civic election close Friday at 4 p.m.
