Greater Vernon residents can provide input on proposed water restrictions.
The Regional District of North Okanagan will hold an open house on draft water restrictions Wednesday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the RDNO office.
“A drought response team was formed in 2010, which brought together 26 members of the community, representing a wide range of businesses in the hospitality, manufacturing, and landscaping sectors, as well as agricultural producers, government agencies, and residents,” said Zee Marcolin, acting general manager of engineering.
“The drought response team was asked to provide input on appropriate responses to drought conditions, to help minimize the impact of drought on our community. As a result of their hard work, the drought response team has helped draft significantly revised water-use restrictions which include a shift from four water-use restriction stages to five.”
A survey and the water use restrictions is available at www.rdno.ca/water.
Copies of these documents and the survey are also available at the RDNO office, Vernon city hall, the Coldstream municipal office and the Vernon library. Comments will be accepted until Jan. 20.
