Organizers of the Interior Provincial Exhibition are already looking ahead to next year.

Final cleanup from the 118th Armstrong fair is underway but planning for the 2018 celebration will begin in two weeks.

“We will have some great plans,” said Yvonne Paulson, general manager.

For this year, the attendance grand total over five days was 151,109 compared to 150,086 in 2016.

The attendance numbers included:

Wednesday – 17,051

Thursday – 22,584

Friday – 29,119

Saturday – 49,353

Sunday – 33,002

“It was fantastic. Everyone came out and had a great time,” said Paulson.

“I talked to many people and they said it was the best fair they had seen in years. We love to hear comments like this.”

Among the draws were the midway and rodeo.

“People love to see the farm animals — the chickens, the cows, the llamas and the alpacas,” said Paulson.

“It’s a grassroots kind of fair. It’s a sizable fair but it’s right in your own backyard.”

Paulson added that the fair is a success because of the volunteers behind the scenes and the support provided by Armstrong and Spallumcheen.
