IPE plans for bushels of fun

The 117th version of the Interior Provincial Exhibition in Armstrong will salute its field and seed division

The 117th version of the Interior Provincial Exhibition in Armstrong will salute its field and seed division.

The IPE has chosen “Bushels of fun for everyone” as its 2016 theme.

“Every year, we pay tribute to one of our divisions,” said IPE general manager Bryan Burns.

The theme fits in with the United Nations proclaiming 2016 as the Year of the Pulses.

Pulses are edible dry peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas that fall under the legume family.

The word “pulse” specifically refers to legumes that are grown and harvested for their dry seed and grown as food.

Plans for the 117th IPE, said Burns, are continuing.

“Everything is starting to come together,” he said.

The annual fair runs Aug. 31 to Sept. 4.
