Kal Tire name wheeled out for multiplex

Wesbild Centre will be dropped June 1 in favour of Kal Tire Place

Wesbild Centre will be known as Kal Tire Place as of June 1.

The Regional District of North Okanagan has reached a naming rights agreement with Kal Tire for the multiplex on 43rd Avenue.

“Kal Tire has been a part of Vernon for 60 years now and our commitment to the community is strong,” said company president Robert Foord.

“We’re happy to support a facility for active families that encourages sport and healthy lifestyles.”

As part of the agreement, Kal Tire will pay$40,000 annually four four years.

Just as occurred with Wesbild Holdings, Kal Tire has been given a $15,000 reduction in the first-year payment to help with the costs of signs for the building.

Wesbild Holdings had the option to renew its naming rights contract but it had expressed some concerns about the extent of events occurring at the facility.
