Kingfisher update focus of talk

Armstrong-Spallumcheen Environmental Trust event Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. at Armstrong’s Zion United Church.

Residents can get an update on the Kingfisher Interpretive Centre.

Neil Brookes, a centre spokesperson, will provide an update on the facility during a meeting hosted by the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Environmental Trust Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. at Armstrong’s Zion United Church.

“In 2014, the Kingfisher Interpretive salmonid enhancement centre, east of Enderby, suffered a near disaster experience with a mudslide,” said David Derbowka, ASET chairperson.

“Fast action, with professional decision-making repairs, kept operations alive for year 2014 salmon run. Learn what effect salmon runs have on the wild forest. Learn why we have learned to initiate community driven water shed protection plans. And why not learn what sustainability is all about?”

Admission to the Jan. 30 event is by donation.
