Lake Country accident sends two to hospital

Incident involved a 33 year old Lake Country woman and a 55 year old Vernon woman

A 33 year old Lake Country woman and a 55 year old Vernon woman were both sent to hospital following a two vehicle crash along Highway 97 in Lake Country.

On Friday at 3:48 p.m., the Lake Country RCMP received a report of a two vehicle collision, with suspected injuries, at the intersection of Highway 97 and Oceola Road.

A northbound white pickup truck had apparently T-boned a blue passenger car which was reportedly completing a left-hand turn into the north-bound lanes of the highway from Oceola Road.

The driver of the blue passenger car, a 33 year old Lake Country woman, narrowly escaped serious injury as her vehicle sustained significant damage to its passenger side.

Both drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision and were transported, as a precaution, by the B.C. Ambulance Service to Kelowna General Hospital.

At this time, police are continuing to investigate this crash but neither speed nor alcohol are considered to be contributing factors. No charges have yet been laid.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, and has not yet spoken with police, is asked to contact the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288.
