As many as eight fire trucks responded to a large grass and brush fire in Lake Country on Thursday afternoon, battling the blaze along a hill side near the intersection of Camp and Tyndall Roads in Lake Country.

As of 3:30 Wednesday, crews were in the mop up stage after knocking the fire down as it tried to climb a steep wooded embankment in the partial residential area, surrounded by woods.

Witnesses at the scene say the fire escaped from the yard of a nearby resident who was burning debris in his yard.
