Lake Country’s MP has been selected for a special honour.
The Okanagan Pride Society has chosen Stephen Fuhr as the grand marshall of the 2016 We Are One Pride March Aug. 13.
“OPS chose MP Fuhr because he has shown his commitment to our country, first as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force and now as a member of Parliament with the Liberal Party,” said Sydney Lawson, OPS president.
“He is supportive of our community and has shown his sense of commitment when he switched from being, ‘a long time Conservative,’ in his words, to become a member of the Liberal party when he realized he did not agree with what Harper’s government was doing. Fuhr stands behind the Liberal’s commitment for equal rights and inclusion for all.”
The We Are One Pride March begins at Stuart Park in Kelowna and goes to City Park where the Okanagan Pride Festival is held. The march starts at 11 a.m. and participants are urged to be at Stuart Park by 10:45 a.m.
