Vernon’s Wesbild Centre is apparently rough around the edges.
The Regional District of North Okanagan has received complaints about the state of landscaping at the 43rd Avenue facility.
“It’s a mess and all tourists will see is 23 dead bushes,” said Wayne Seabrook, manager of the Vernon Farmers Market, which uses Wesbild’s parking lot.
Besides dead trees, weeds are also widespread, and suggestions that irrigation is not working.
“We will talk to the contractor and see if we can bring things up to a certain level of standard,” said Keith Pinkoski, a parks planner.
But director Bob Fleming would like to see a more thorough process followed.
“Is there any auditing of (the contractor’s) performance?” he said.
“It appears that the irrigation, if not shut off, was cut off.”
Director Doug Dirk is demanding action with the landscaping.
“I want to make sure it’s watered and what ever has died is removed,” he said.
