This is the final summer for the Skaha Lake splash pad, as the aging spray park will be replaced in 2024 with a new design and equipment thanks to a contribution from Penticton Sunrise Rotary.
Rather than close the splash pad this summer, the City of Penticton is asking users to be cautious as the surface has uneven concrete and may be rough for bare feet. No running and shoes are strongly recommended.
Penticton Sunrise Rotary has been fundraising for a new splash pad at the park since 2020.
The existing Skaha Lake Rotary Spray Park was built by Rotary in 1997.
From broken equipment to cracked asphalt and more, it is now becoming more unsafe as each season passes. In partnership with the City of Penticton, Rotary has committed $150,000 to build an updated, safe and fun splash park that will last for years to come.
Since deciding the splash park would be one of their main infrastructure fundraisers, the Rotary has concentrated on several fundraisers including the Peach Fest sandcastle competition, a jigsaw puzzle of the Channel sold last summer, to the ever-popular Lobster on the Run.
