Light-A-Bulb gains support

A holiday fundraiser is starting to shine bright.

So far, the Light A Bulb campaign has raised $43,500 towards its $200,000 goal for Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

“This year’s proceeds will support the purchase of critical pieces of medical equipment for the operating rooms and ambulatory care clinics,” said Michael Concannon, campaign chairperson.

Light A Bulb got a boost with $1,000 from Tim Hortons, which sold snow globe doughnuts as a fundraiser.

Among the residents who purchased a doughnut was Ozzie Youdell, who lived in Israel before it was a country and remembers being taken by cart to a make-shift hospital.

“I support the Light A Bulb campaign because we are so fortunate to have such a wonderful hospital to care for us,” he said.

Tax deductible donations will help light up the tree located on the roof of Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
