Flooding has disrupted services at Vernon's library.

Limited services available at Vernon library

Beginning Thursday, the branch foyer will be open to the public for book returns and holds pick-up.

Some limited services are returning to Vernon’s library after a flood.

Beginning Thursday, the branch foyer will be open to the public for book returns and holds pick-up.

For those wanting to return or pick up books, the hours will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

“Programs are cancelled for the remainder of this week,” said Michele Rule, Okanagan Regional Library communications manager.

The library was forced to close Tuesday after a pipe burst Monday, sending a torrent of water throughout the main floor. Restoration work continues and it’s not known when the branch will reopen fully to the public.

“The Vernon branch is one of the busiest branches in the system and we appreciate the inconvenience that this is causing for our patrons,” said Rule.

Updates will continue to be posted at www.orl.bc.ca and ORL’s library’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
