It was not the best way to return from a long weekend for an area logging contractor.

The owner of a 1990 28-foot Freightliner logging shop van called RCMP officers on May 21 to report serious vandalism and theft to his shop van.

“He had parked his large shop truck at a logging site 22 kilometres west of Monte Lake on Jewel Creek Road off George Creek Road over the May long weekend,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “The owner reported when he came to work on Monday morning, the windows were smashed out, the back doors had been opened and the majority of his logging tools and supplies were stolen from the shop truck.”

The approximate value of the tools is $50,000.

Officers attended the site and spoke with the owner, and discovered the unit had been at the site since May 18, at around 3 p.m.

Anyone with information on this theft can call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
