Lumby officials are turning to Victoria to ease the housing crunch.

The need for a variety of housing options was on the agenda when village council met with provincial cabinet ministers at the Union of B.C. Municipalities conference.

“I am interested to see what this new government does for us with social development and housing,” said Mayor Kevin Acton.

“They understand the problem so when we go looking for help for assisted housing, hopefully it’s available.”

Council also discussed the need to prevent flooding in the community.

“If we’re going to flood every year, maybe permanent (dike) works are better than emergency works every year,” said Acton.
