Lumby budget almost finalized

Lumby is another step closer to having a financial plan.

Council gave second and third readings to the 2017 budget bylaw Monday.

“The next meeting (April 3) should be adoption,” said Mayor Kevin Acton.

The budget includes a 1.18 per cent tax increase.

And since council put out the call for public input, about six residents have visited the village office to look at the budget and ask questions.

“They went away happy with the answers they got,” said Acton.

Administration continues

The business of running Lumby will continue even during holidays and illness.

Council has approved Jeremy Sundin, the chief financial officer, also being named deputy chief administrative officer.

“He will have the skills and be well briefed on local government,” said Mayor Kevin Acton.

The position of deputy CAO is necessary so decisions can still be made when the chief administrative officer, Tom Kadla, is absent.

“Our whole office staff has the skills and knowledge needed on a day to day basis,” said Acton.
