Lumby Days gets loud

Lumby Days and Salmon Music Festival get boost with exemption of noise bylaw

Lumby officials aren’t letting the rules get in the way of a good time.

Council has agreed to waive the noise bylaw for both Lumby Days and the Salmon Music Festival.

“It’s about morale and it’s a real boost for the community,” said Mayor Kevin Acton of special events.

“It’s a lot of fun and it also brings in tourism money to the community.”

For Lumby Days, the noise bylaw will be waived and extended until midnight June 8 and 9.

“It comes before us every year for consideration and we say yes,” said Acton of council recognizing the significance of Lumby Days to local residents.

The Salmon Music Festival has never been held in Oval Park before and the noise control bylaw will be waived and extended until midnight July 27 and 28.

“We will see how they do for the first time in this location,” said Acton.
