The village has appointed Kerr Wood Leidal Associates consulting engineers to update its floodplain mapping and assess about 7.65 kilometres of creek banks and earthworks that were installed during the May emergency flood response.

“The consultant has a good reputation and we believe they will do an excellent job for Lumby. As a next step we look forward to setting a date with the consultant for a public engagement meeting,” said Tom Kadla, Lumby’s chief administrative officer.

The project is scheduled to begin immediately with final reporting and presentation by the end of March. The contract amount is $148,662.

“We are excited to see this happen. This work is priority for Lumby, and we will be looking forward to working with the province to see this project through to completion,” said Mayor Kevin Acton, Mayor
