A popular pastime will continue in Lumby.
Lumby council has agreed to renew the five-year lease with the Lumby Golf Club to use village-owned land.
“The club has been in existence for a long time and it’s total budget in 2013 was $2,600. It’s a completely volunteer organization,” said Coun. Nick Hodge, who was liaison between the village and the club.
The club, which has been around since 1961, will lease the 39-acre property for $1 a year over the five years.
The course consists of nine holes and sand greens.
Hodge believes the course not only provides another amenity for residents, but it helps bring visitors and potential new residents to the community.
“It’s right there and $10 buys you golf with a beautiful view of the valley,” he said.
