Lumby infrastructure is getting a boost.

The village of has been awarded a federal grant of $1.7 million for its water plan.

The project includes replacing water mains, well head protection, a Leblanc Street pressure zone change and a backup generator for the lower reservoir. Lumby is also contributing $120,000 to the project.

“This investment highlights council’s commitment to addressing aging infrastructure, promoting economic development opportunities and improving the quality of the water system,” said Mayor Kevin Acton.
