The RCMP Southeast District's Major Crime Unit has been called in to assist in the investigation into the disappearance of Caitlin Potts.

The RCMP Southeast District Major Crimes Unit (SEDMCU) is now assisting the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP with the investigation of missing person Caitlin Brandy Potts.

Potts was reported missing to the Enderby RCMP on March 1. She was last in contact with her family and friends on Feb. 22.

“All missing person cases are treated as high priority investigations,” said RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk. “In Caitlin’s case, the assistance of the SEDMCU, at this point, is reflective of our commitment to fully determine her current whereabouts and what has occurred to date.”

Potts, 27, is a First Nations woman with long black and blond hair. She was last seen wearing a black shirt.

She has been known to travel throughout B.C. and Alberta.

Police have followed up on numerous leads and possible sightings, though Potts remains missing.

Her mother issued a plea for information through the RCMP.

The SEDMCU has also been assisting with the investigation into the disappearance of a missing Salmon Arm woman, Ashley Simpson.

“Although the SED MCU is currently engaged in these recent cases of two North Okanagan missing women, there are no indications at this time leading investigators to believe that the two matters are linked in any way,” said Moskaluk. “The involvement of foul play in regards to Caitlin’s case has not been eliminated.”

Anyone with information about Caitlin Brandy Potts or her current whereabouts is asked to call the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP detachment at (250) 545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
