A 33-year-old Vernon man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Sunday on Old Kamloops Road. The driver and lone occupant of a Ford Ranger pickup was thrown from the vehicle upon impact with a pole. He died later in hospital. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.

UPDATED TUESDAY, MARCH 5, 4:30 P.M. The victim has been identified as Tyrone Nicholas Turnbull.

A 33-year-old Vernon man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Old Kamloops Road Sunday night.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 5600 block.

Police report the man hit a power pole and was ejected from his vehicle.

No names had been released as of Monday morning.
