It wasn’t a wake-up call a Vernon woman planned on receiving.

Shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old Vernon woman reported being awakened in her Volkswagen Jetta by her passenger window being smashed by a male suspect.

The car was parked on the corner of 30th Street and 29th Avenue.

“The suspect grabbed the woman’s cell phone and purse that was on the passenger seat,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

“The victim told police that she grabbed onto the purse, shouted for help, while she was being pulled through the broken window. She let go of the purse.”

The man left on a bicycle with her pink purse, and cell phone.

The woman sustained injuries to her arms from the window as a result of this incident.

The police are still investigating this file and are asking anyone with information to please call the Vernon RCMP detachment at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
