The pellet plant in Lavington has previously raised concerns among some residents.

Lavington and area residents can expect details in the future following an environmental appeal which failed to proceed over a local pellet plant.

Mediation took place June 17 in Kelowna between all the parties and the Ministry of Justice says that all issues were resolved amicably.

Three concerned citizens filed the appeal over a year ago in regards to the Ministry of Environment’s decision to issue a permit to operate to Pinnacle Pellet Plant.

“No other details of the mediation can be disclosed due to the confidentiality agreement in the mediation,” an MoE official told The Morning Star in a statement.

Tom Coape-Arnold is one of the three concerned citizens (appellants), who made the appeal over a year ago. He says it was a long, tiring process including several delays and while details are currently confidential, they will be released in due time.

“We need to work with the community a bit,” said Coape-Arnold.

But he adds: “There were commitments made on behalf of the government and Pinnacle so we’re looking forward to that.”
