Revelstoke residents are used to seeing bears wander around town. A moose sighting downtown? That’s a first to this writer.

On Friday, a moose was spotted running through downtown Revelstoke. The photo, which was was taken by Nathan Bertram and posted to Instagram by Jean-Marc LaFlamme of the Mountain Co-Lab, shows the female mopse running through the intersection of Mackenzie Avenue and First Street towards Grizzly Plaza.

It’s not known where the moose went but we have an idea of where it came from. An hour or so before the photo was posted, we were sent a picture of a moose standing on an island in the Columbia River. The photographer said he watched as the moose tried to swim across the flowing river towards town.
