Motorist safety urged as school resumes

RCMP officers will be targeting the areas around schools and issuing tickets for offenses

Children throughout the region are heading back to class and that means motorists should be aware of them.

The RCMP are reminding drivers to slow down and keep an eye out for school zones.

“North Okanagan and Vernon RCMP officers will be targeting the areas around schools and issuing tickets for offenses,” said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

“All drivers are reminded to slow down, focus on driving and keep an eye out for children on the roads.”

Classes resume in the North Okanagan-Shuswap School District Tuesday and the Vernon district Wednesday.
