Public assistance is being sought after a motor vehicle accident in Vernon.
At about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, RCMP officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at 39th Avenue and Alexis Park Drive.
“When our officers arrived, they found a blue Jeep, and a Hyundai that had been involved in the crash,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.
“The driver of the Hyundai was still in her car wile the driver of the Jeep ran from the scene.”
The 44-year-old woman in the Hyundai was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with serious injuries. She was transferred to Vancouver General Hospital Thursday.
“The driver of the Jeep, a man believed to be in his 20s, ran from the scene and has not been located at this time,” said Molendyk.
Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call the Vernon RCMP.
“It is very likely that he was injured in this crash as well,” said Molendyk.
